Full Description of Our Bruges Free Tour
Discover the beauty and over 1,000 years of history in the medieval heart of Bruges during this 2-hour free walking tour. We're passionate storytellers, so there won’t be a dull moment. And as local guides, we love to share all our tips on what to do in Bruges after the tour as well.
We’ll take you back to the Middle Ages and help you imagine what life was like in what was once the richest city in the world. Bruges reached its Golden Age during the 14th and 15th centuries — but we’ll also tell you how it became the poorest city in Belgium, and who was to blame. Hear stories of love and war, architecture and wealth — and of course, Belgian chocolate, waffles, fries, and beer.

The Free Walking Tour Concept
Is the Free Walking Tour really free?
No. A better translation for Free Tour is actually an Open Tour. It’s a great concept, and it works like this:
- Online reservations are free
- You decide the value at the end
For a student, that might mean a smaller amount — while others can give more. That way, everyone can enjoy a high-quality tour, even those who might not be able to afford a standard €25 ticket. And rest assured: we always give it our absolute best to make it worth your while!
Just to give you an idea: most people choose to give between €10 and £30 per person. Some go as high as $50 to show how much they enjoyed.

What a great tour of Bruges!
Pascal our guide was animated, enthusiastic and full of wonderful theatrical energy. Bringing stories alive with a sword fighting thrust of his umbrella or leaping into character as he revealed a hidden quirk of a historical character. He should be on TV presenting a history programme for teens. His energy and charisma turned this tour into an emersive performance. My daughter and I loved it! Bravo!

Steve was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Bruges and his daughter Nikki added lots of gems along the way. We couldn't have asked for better guides, well paced, considerate of the audience and very friendly and entertaining. Wish we could do it again. So much to take in, really enjoyable. Thanks Steve and Nikki!

Highly recommended comprehensive fun walking tour of Bruges
One of the best walking tours I have taken. Gosia was informative, knowledgeable and passionate about her beloved Bruges. Lovely group of people and a fun walk due to the enthusiasm of our host. At the end of the tour, I felt I knew the city really well and I was able to successfully navigate back to sights for further exploration. Thank you Gosia!
